Event Details

Dune grassland is a scarce resource within the city and the Edinburgh Shoreline project are working with the City of Edinburgh Council to restore and interpret this site for the many visitors that this beauty spot attracts. Dune grassland is important for butterflies, mosses, fungi and lichens. However the grassland at Cramond is being threatened by Japanese rose (rosa rugosa) a recent invader from Eastern Asia. This plant grows in thickets which choke out the native flora we are trying to conserve and enrich.

Please wear appropriate outdoor clothing, preferably long sleeves and long arms as we may be working in dense vegetation and thorny plants are present. Uneven and steep terrain may be encountered therefore appropriate footwear and clothing is required. Bring waterproofs if the weather forecasts suggests rain. Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water. Public toilets are accessible nearby. If there are medical or health issues for any participants can you make sure your group leader has all the information needed.
