Forthine Exhibition on the Isle of May with NatureScot

Submerge yourself in the story of the Sea, Forthlines, coasts, seagrass and oysters. An exhibition at Stevenson lighthouse, Isle of May. Step inside the beacon on the edge of the wild North Sea and journey through tides of art, and story. Forthlines invites you to explore the delicate threads connecting land and sea – from whispering seagrass meadows to the quiet resilience of oysters, and the changing coastlines they call home. This powerful exhibition casts light on the environmental challenges facing the Firth of Forth, and hope carried by ongoing restoration efforts.

As the Edinburgh Shoreline project developed, the focus grew on the huge loss of marine and coastal species. Conversations with like-minded organisations resulted in the Restoration Forth partnership, which is restoring two key species: Seagess and Oysters.

This in turn inspired Nicky Sanderson and Mary Walters, two artists from Portobello, Edinburgh: their collaborative paper hangings suggest a sense of fragility of the coastal environment and point to the urgency to protect and restore our coastlines.
