PROJECTS

Working with local communities since 2018

The Edinburgh Shoreline Project has worked in collaboration with local communities since 2018, and continues to do so. We believe direct community involvement in design and delivery of our shared projects is key to bringing about sustainable change. Here are a few of the projects we enjoyed helping to drive forward. Active Projects

Gaining a better understanding about changes and pursue why blue mussels, an important indicator species, have declined so seriously around the Forth.

A major marine restoration programme working with communities to restore seagrass habitats and European flat oyster populations in the Firth of Forth.

Past Projects

A Citizen Science project to find out exactly where blue mussels are in the Firth of Forth, how abundant they are, whether and where they are settling as babies, and what their survival rate is.

We offered you the chance to respond creatively to one of the many species that lives (or lived) in and around the Firth of Forth and help raise awareness about its importance.

An inspiring challenge for artists and craftworkers to celebrate the amazing shoreline we have on our doorstep, with a particular focus on our coastal environment and the amazingly varied wildlife that can be found there.

An initiative that set out to create or improve large scale habitats for coastal wildlife.

The information and creative work generated by Edinburgh Shoreline was showcased in a ground-breaking exhibition at the John Hope Gateway, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

Our timeline

It’s wonderful to reflect back on what we have achieved since this project was first considered and then started back in 2018. We really appreciate all the support we have had from local communities, councils, local businesses and our funders.
