As the spouse of a birdwatcher I have spent many hours on the trail of various bird species. It is always a pleasure to see coastal birds but I am also aware of their habitat being disturbed by inconsiderate human activity with many people not even aware of their impact.
The knot is on the international red list due to climate change and due to loss of food resources from fishing of horseshoe crabs.
Also intrigued by its name, Caidris canutus , named after King Canute who allegedly commanded the tide to turn back!
I constructed the knot using fabric scraps, including reused vintage fabrics. It is 19 cm high and 21 cm in length.
