I like learning about birds that are new to me and have knitted a few birds over the years, so picking the Pochard to create was an easy choice for me, especially as it has such striking colours.
My bird books tell me that Pochards are “neat and well set-up”, “gregarious”, often seen asleep”, “fanatically sociable”, “quick but with no agility” and that their wings “beat too fast”. I’m now hoping to see one with all these attributes in real life.
I used wool, felt and beads from my existing craft stash and a pattern by Amanda Berry, and knitted it while watching Eurovision 🙂
