I picked this species because I think it is amazing how they build a tube from sand and shells without any hands to help them!
I learnt that the tubes of dug-out sand on the beach are made by Sand Mason Worms. I’ve always wondered what creature makes them. It’s amazing how they stick grains of sand and fragments of shell together to make a tube. I was surprised that they are so long- 30cm.
I used the cardboard tube from inside a roll of dog poo bags, some wire, modelling clay, sticky back plastic, glitter glue, sequins, smashed up shells and lots of different coloured beads. It is about 10 cm tall, 8 cm wide and 4cm deep.
