This October, Edinburgh Shoreline was welcomed into Victoria Primary School in Newhaven, Edinburgh by P6 teacher Lynsey Blyth, where, under the direction and inspiration
of Lucy Metcalfe, Karen Chambers and Charlotte Barr three days were spent working with her lovely pupils.
A whole day was devoted to discussing the history of the Forth’s lost biodiversity and the investigative and restoration efforts of Edinburgh Shoreline and Restoration Forth, and included a very successful exploration of their local beach.
Following this, the children set to work creating images of marine plants and creatures on a series of wall-tiles.
We were heart-warmed by their understanding of the issues and the variety of responses and species. We were also very impressed by the artistic range the children displayed, which was in no small part thanks to guidance and encouragement from volunteer Alison Grant, a visual artist much concerned with the current state of the Forth.
