The team attended an online briefing ahead of a planning application being submitted for our Improving Urban Waters project at Cramond.
The Scottish Water team outlined the extent and scope of the works to improve wastewater infrastructure in the area, specifically storm overflows.
Overflows are essential components that prevent wastewater from backing up and flooding homes and businesses during periods of heavy rain. Powered screens prevent objects larger than 6mm from entering the water environment, improving the aesthetic of the area.
The Improving Urban Waters programme is targeting significant investment in priority overflows that require upgrading or replacement, reducing sewer-related debris and helping to protect the coastline and marine environment.
The briefing gave the opportunity to ask the project team questions and share local knowledge. A follow up session will be organised.
