Wildflower seeding at our Edinburgh Coastal Meadows

On a beautifully sunny April morning we were joined by the Scottish Government’s International Development and Climate Change team to help us seed our coastal meadows with a mix specially selected by Edinburgh University.

The meadows were mown recently and half have now been enhanced with a mix of perennials and also annuals. We hope this will make the meadows more attractive / acceptable to people who visit there. The seeds should begin to emerge fairly quickly we hope, with more to see as we go through May and June.

We have six meadows which have both perrenials and annuals and five with existing perennials. We will review success of each set, and will also seek feedback from bioblitz volunteers and the public about their views on both.
